Türk Altın Promises Sustainable Mining with Saplings Planted on National Afforestation Day…
Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş., in line with its sustainability principles, planted approximately 3,000 saplings on 11.11.2024 across all operation sites on the occasion of National Afforestation Day, with the participation of senior management, thereby providing an additional contribution to rehabilitation efforts at mining sites.
With the Presidential Circular dated November 6, 2019, regarding the November 11 Afforestation Campaign, November 11 of each year was declared as 'National Afforestation Day.'
As Türk Altın İşletmeleri, we organized an important event as part of the National Afforestation Day campaign, with the goal of strengthening the green cover in our operation areas and leaving a more livable environment for future generations.
With our sustainable mining approach, we have planted approximately 137,000 trees to date in our operation areas, afforesting 1,200,000 m² of land, demonstrating that eco-friendly mining is possible.
At the sapling planting ceremony held at Kaymaz Gold Mine, Türk Altın İşletmeleri Board Member – CEO Mahmut Çelik said the following in his speech:
"The Hadith says, 'Even if you know that the Day of Judgment is coming, plant the sapling in your hand.'
On November 6, 2019, it was decided by Presidential Circular that November 11 would be celebrated as 'National Afforestation Day' every year.
For this reason, as Türk Altın Company, we participate in this event every year at all locations and plant saplings at all our facilities. Within the framework of the slogan 'Let you also have a planted tree,' we organize sapling planting on behalf of all our personnel. We have also included a mini family nursery project in our plans for personnel who wish to participate.
At our Türk Altın Kaymaz Mine, we planted 2,000 saplings last year, bringing the total number of saplings planted at this location to over 10,000. The number of saplings planted across all our locations has exceeded 135,000. We aspire to hand over these regions, which we received as barren steppes, to future generations as forests. May the saplings we planted before and those we will plant today be a breath of fresh air for the future and humanity for a greener country."
