AWARD FOR CHARITY MINERS

Türk Altın İşletmeleri employees were rewarded by the company management for their efforts during the earthquake disaster.

On February 6, one of the biggest earthquakes in the history of our country and the world occurred, affecting approximately 13 million citizens across 10 provinces and causing us to lose more than 46,000 people. The entire country, led by our state, mobilized both materially and spiritually in response to this disaster.

From the first hours of the earthquake, competent individuals and institutions along with AFAD teams reached the region as quickly as possible. Among them, one of the professional groups that provided the most benefit throughout the process was miners. The Türk Altın İşletmeleri MAKUT (Mine Rescue) team, who are always prepared for such dangers due to the nature of their work, was among the first teams to arrive at the scene. In the following days, experienced miners, mine workers, and headquarters personnel from 5 operations across the country supported the efforts in the region. The Ovacık/Çukuralan operation employees, who supported the Türk Altın team with 137 people contributing directly to search, rescue, and other requested support activities for a week, pulled many injured people from the rubble and helped them survive. The miners, who completed their work in the earthquake zone with great dedication, have now returned to their homes and continue their mining duties.

Due to their sensitivity to what happened, Türk Altın Holding Chairman of the Board İsmail Güler, Board Member Enis Güçlü Şirin, Board Member-CEO Mahmut Çelik, and Press and Public Relations Manager Osman Diyadin visited the Ovacık/Çukuralan operations on March 7 to personally thank the miners who participated in the efforts and rewarded each of them with a certificate of commendation and a full gold coin. Speaking at the ceremony, CEO Mahmut Çelik said, "If we and AFAD had not said 'enough' that day, all our colleagues would have gone to the disaster zone as soon as possible to participate in the efforts. This loyal behavior has affected not only us but our entire country. Thus, the importance of the mining sector and the existence of miners has once again demonstrated itself." Chairman of the Board İsmail Güler also said, "The effort you showed there and the lives you saved are very valuable. In this regard, we will provide all kinds of support, especially the training and equipment you need in the upcoming period, and we will listen to your requests." Afterwards, full gold coins along with certificates of commendation were presented by the company management to 137 competent miners and mine workers, primarily the MAKUT team. The employees who participated in the rescue activities stated that they rushed to help both through assignment and voluntarily, that they are ready for duty in any similar situation with the hope that it will not happen again, and that they are very grateful to the company management for honoring them with such rewards. Additionally, during the meeting with mine workers, good news was given about a wage improvement to be made in the near future. Furthermore, the wishes and requests of employees regarding union activities were also heard. The company management, warmly hosted by the miners, took many photos at the request of the employees.
