Occupational Health and Safety Approach and Philosophy

Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. has adopted the objective of implementing its Occupational Health and Safety Management System as a standard system across all its operations and exploration sites, including the Head Office. The Occupational Health and Safety Management System of Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. was established by fulfilling the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and ILO conventions, referencing TS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, Security Management Systems, ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. In addition to the goal of being the best company in occupational safety practices in national mining, it has adopted the fundamental objective of being among the best on the international platform as well. To achieve its Occupational Health and Safety objectives, Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş., which adopts an employee-first management approach, always prioritizes the safety and well-being of its employees.

Occupational Health and Safety Organizational Structure

The Occupational Health and Safety Department, established within the Ankara Head Office, has a structure encompassing 13 separate job descriptions including exploration, projects and operations, and operates under the Operations Directorates, the Occupational Safety Directorate, and the Deputy General Manager Responsible for Operations.

Purpose and Scope of Our Occupational Health and Safety Management System

In all work areas within Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş.; • To provide a systematic approach to achieve a zero-accident safety culture, • To provide guidance on practices to all employees, including contractor workers, and all other relevant stakeholders, the Occupational Health and Safety Management System has been established and continues to be continuously improved.

The main components of the system are Policy, Organizing, Planning and Implementation, Evaluation, Action for Improvement, and Auditing. The system is periodically reviewed to ensure continuous improvement, and appropriate actions are planned for areas that need development.

The elements of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System of Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. can be summarized as follows;

The management of Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. has assumed overall responsibility to provide leadership in occupational health and safety activities. This responsibility includes the following matters:

✓Defining the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, promoting its active implementation, maintaining and ensuring its development;
✓Providing appropriate financial, human and organizational resources to implement, control, review and improve the Occupational Health and Safety Management System,
✓Defining roles, determining responsibilities and authorities to effectively implement the Occupational Health and Safety Management System,
✓Publishing the Occupational Health and Safety Management Policy,
✓Setting measurable objectives and targets,
✓Reviewing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System once a year,
✓Ensuring active participation of all employees and employee representatives, including contractor workers.

The purpose of the Occupational Health and Safety Policy published by Türk Altın İşletmeleri A.Ş. is to state commitments regarding providing safe and healthy working conditions as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Management Plan, ensuring continuous improvement, and complying with current legislation and other requirements to which operations are voluntarily subject. It outlines the steps to be taken to meet these commitments and provide a framework for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

Employee participation is the most important element of our management system. To build commitment, employees and employee representatives effectively take part in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and corrective action processes of the occupational health and safety policy.

Employee participation is ensured by;

✓Supporting employee participation through a transparent management style that ensures the removal of barriers after identifying participation obstacles,
✓Ensuring that employees and employee representatives are trained in all processes related to their work,
✓Identifying employee representatives in accordance with laws, internationally recognized conventions and other requirements, and training representatives through special training programs,
✓Holding planned meetings with employee representatives,
✓Evaluating verbal and written notifications from employees,
✓Holding meetings not limited to occupational safety committee meetings.
